Want a comfortable nights’ sleep in a sustainable fabric? Check out our Panda Voucher Codes
Did you know that according to the majority of sources hemp, organic cotton, denim and bamboo are up there as being among the most sustainable fabrics? Whatever I buy, be it bedding or clothes I look for sustainability and comfort!
Top 4 fabrics Voted for by Voucher Shares as the most sustainable:
How Sustainable is Linen?
I have always liked linen, it is a natural fibre so gets a big tick on that front and has been used in clothes for thousands of years. It comes from the flax plant which you would have heard of. The only downside is that it does take a long time to grow, treat and process to make it supple enough to use as a fabric.
How Sustainable is Cotton?
Cotton is another one of my favorites and one we are all familiar with. Although it’s a natural material manufacturing can have a massive impact on the environment because it takes so much water to produce. One pair of jeans requires 10,000 liters of water to make – did you know that’s about 13 years of drinking water? That said if you buy cotton from closed loop water systems that reduces water usage and buying cotton with a Fairtrade mark it is way better than buying man made fabrics.
How Sustainable is Hemp?
Hemp is another fibre that is sustainable and although you might often associate it with hippies and tie die it’s actually similar to linen, it’s been used for thousands of years, grows fast and can even be grown in the UK.
How Sustainable is Bamboo?
I saved the best for last! Bamboo is one of the most eco-friendly materials available because it is naturally renewable plus it is also the world’s fastest-growing plant (we have some in our garden so I can verify this)! Also, you don’t need to use any nasty pesticides or fertilizers because it is so robust! And here’s a fact I discovered when writing this blog that you will like, Bamboo releases 35% more oxygen into the atmosphere than other trees.
I discovered bamboo when I was shopping around for my child’s first mattress, I decided early on that I was more than happy with second-hand clothes but was not willing to put my baby on a mattress that smelt of chemicals. Turns out his bamboo mattress was worth every penny I paid!
Bamboo bedding was a more recent discovery. I came across Panda Bamboo bedding when they became a retailer on Voucher Shares. I ordered the Panda single bamboo duvet set, sheet and memory foam pillow along with the Panda memory foam mattress topper for our campervan. I couldn’t be more impressed with it all!
Panda Bedding Set Review
The Panda Complete Bedding Set (Fitted sheet, Duvet cover, Pillowcases) is made from 100% organically grown bamboo.
It feels more like silk or at least Egyptian cotton, I would never guess it was made of bamboo. It’s silky and really luxurious! It is also really breathable and feels amazing against your skin.
I only ordered 1 set not thinking for a second that my kids would notice or care about a new duvet set (they never usually do), wrong! I have had to split it up and am now awaiting delivery of another set and pillow!

Panda Memory Foam Pillow Review
Now this is what dreams are made of! And I speak from experience having had Tempur pillows (and mattresses) for years. The Panda pillow is way comfier and do not smell chemically at all! Plus me and my kids absolutely LOVE the Panda icon that sits on the top right hand side of the pillow.

Panda Memory Foam Mattress Topper Review
I know this is bit of a luxury but I bought the king size Panda mattress topper for our campervan. I am used to comfort and this mattress topper offers doesn’t disappoint! You need to leave it for 24 hours to expand before using it. I have just come back from a rainy 3 night camping trip in Devon and slept like a baby on this!
The Panda mattress topper uses 3rd generation memory foam which allows the mattress topper to easily breathe & mould to your body's shape. It comes with a removable bamboo cover too.
