J-Beauty, aka Japanese Beauty, is the latest skincare trend breaking into the mainstream eastern skincare industry.
Thanks to online retailers like LOOKFANTASTIC, allbeauty and AMAZON, Japanese skincare products have become much easier to get hold of in the UK and more often than not, they are sold out. J-Beauty has followed on from it’s neighbours success, the well known Korean beauty trend. However, Japanese beauty brings something more than foot peels and spot stickers. It brings and introduces a range of high end, luxurious, rich ingredients including the social media sensation ceramide.
Out of all beauty products online, the name that crops up on every top 10 japanese beauty products list is SHISEIDO. I had seen the brand here and there for a few years, especially whilst browsing in duty free but I had always dismissed it due to the unfamiliarity in comparison to its competitors such as Chanel, or Estee Lauder. But this year, most unexpectedly to me more than anyone, has bought my skin a welcome break. I put down the foundation and concealer and swapped it for an investment into skincare. Having now realised that it is never too early to start the prevention of ageing I noticed SHISEIDO pop up countless times on reviews for high end skincare that actually works.
Now I have seen the likes of Body Shop taking inspiration from japanese beauty and I have tried those products and loved them all immensely - Body Shop Matcha tea face mask is my absolute favourite - but I was yet to try a brand straight from Japan. And so what better brand to test out than that brand that won’t stop popping up?
So whilst some were sucked into other high end skincare trends, some of which are certainly not worth the hype, I tested SHISEIDO and boy did it not disappoint.
SHISEIDO Eye and Lip Contour Regenerating Cream
I’m going to insert a few images here of my eyes before and after using the Shiseido eye cream.
With my job being full time (and overtime) on a computer, I’ve become very aware of my eyes gathering a lovely collection of wrinkles. Not to mention my so gratefully inherited dark circles. You see I was definitely one those people who never bought into eye cream but then again I never used to wear SPF (in fact i never bought into any skincare at all), so I’ve done a lot of growing recently and came to realise that actually no matter how young you are, you should pay attention to prevention of ageing and not just wait until you need to fight it. For my eyes this realisation couldn't have come any sooner.
As you can see from the before and after, I had significant bags, discolouration, and not to mention the wrinkles that are highlighted by any sort of makeup at all (adulthood hits hard and takes no prisoners). The after pictures were taken just 1 week later and well.. You can see the transformation for yourself.
Now let's talk about the price, Shiseido is 100% a high end skin care brand, much like most of the Japanese skincare brands but as I have found, every single penny is worth it. It just does what it says on the tin.
As I've grown older I have discovered that skincare is worth a million times over the price you pay if it truly works and I can guarantee you that this brand truly works.
So this is me, now making the absolute most of the Shiseido voucher codes, discount and sales for the foreseeable future - sorry not sorry to my bank account!
